Three more EC155 For Royal Thai Police Aviation Unit

Royal Thai Police Aviation Division is one of the largest Law Enforcement Flying Unit in South East Asia. On the rotary-wing fleet RTP operate EC155, Bell 412, Bell 212, Bell 205A/A-1,  and Bell 206L-1. Despite the trend of Hawk family in Royal Thai Armed Force, RTP choose to acquire more EC155.

RTP previously operate two EC155s as a VVIP helicopter for Royal Thai Family and VIP transport for highranking officer. Three more of the type, according to Eurocopter statement, will be deditated to VVIP mission and delivery schedule is set to be in 2011.

I don’t know the RTP will use EC155 solely on the VVIP and VIP mission or not. EC155 is also ideal for replacing their older model like Bell 212 or Bell 205. More safer and more mission capable. Five helicopters, I don’t know for sure but I think, are also enough for VVIP and VIP mission but we can add the law enforcement mission on this good helicopter also.

  1. PeterS says:

I thought the EC155 was developed from the Dauphin family, but is not really part of it. So calling it the EC155 Dauphin is not really correct.

  2. thaimilitary says:

I don’t know but this is a offical release from EADS. So we might have to believe them. ^ ^”

  3. PeterS says:

You’re right. EADS says it’s part of the Dauphin family. Then my information was wrong.

And the RTA received a ATR72-500 this week, also for transport of VIP’s. Thai VIP’s must be happy VIP’s the coming period.
